‘Who do you think we are kidding Mr Hitler, if you think that England’s done?’ Heading to ‘Dad’s Army’ at The Queen’s Theatre already had me singing the song and highly excited about going to see a stage show based on the classic comedy. ‘Dad’s Army Radio Show’.

I went into the theatre with high expectations of the stage show that recreated the classic radio show. The show consists of two men re-enacting entire episodes of the classic series on their own with a blank stage?!? How could this be done?

But David Benson and Jack Lane didn’t let us down and left me with my mouth wide open from the moment their performance began. It was amazing that, although there are only 2 actors, they were able to get the voices of the actors mind-bogglingly spot on. Each time I closed my eyes it really felt like I was in the presence of Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier and many more Dad’s Army Actors/Actresses.

The show began with the very first episode of the show written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft and the performance was based on their radio series. It was then concluded by the final episode of the Dad’s Army TV series, specially rewritten for the audio only performance

The night left me with a huge smile on my face and left me wanting soo much more. Sadly, this was the only performance of Dad’s Army at The Queen’s Theatre and I’m hoping they will return.

For now, just ‘Don’t Panic’
