The world’s favourite Christmas comedy, ‘Elf’ is brought to life at the Brookside Theatre this Christmas, in a spectacular stage musical for the whole family.

After mistakenly crawling into Santa’s toy sack as a young orphan boy, Buddy is raised by elves at the North Pole. Unaware of the fact that he’s human, Buddy’s enormous size and lack of natural toy making skills that the other elves possess eventually forces him to face the truth. With Santa’s blessing, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs, a cynical no-nonsense workaholic. Buddy soon discovers that most New Yorkers no longer believe in Santa and the spirit of Christmas. The problem is Santa’s sleigh will only fly if people believe in him. Buddy’s unrelenting sunny disposition and a profoundly ingrained love of Christmas not only creates hilarity amongst the cynicism of New Yorkers but may save Christmas…

This fantastic musical features songs by Tony Award nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). The show stars Artistic Director, Jai Sepple as Buddy who was last seen as ‘Edna’ in the theatre’s highly acclaimed production of Hairspray, and features Emily Perzan (Jovie), Harri Sepple (Emily Hobbs), Jason Markham (Walter Hobbs), PJ Tomlinson (Santa) and Jaden Christopher (Michael Hobbs).

Jai Sepple explained “You certainly don’t have to be a fan of the film to enjoy this fantastic musical adaptation. The show reminds us about the incredible magic of Christmas and its message of generosity toward all people. Remembering that innocent understanding of Santa through Buddy’s eyes will help children and adults renew their Spirit of Christmas in ways they can’t imagine. This certainly will be a Christmas treat for all ages to enjoy.”
