With most theatres and shows affected in 2020, it has felt dark. But then along came Santus Circus, returning to Havering in it’s first time this year and it feels like a bright light in a time that feels like darkness.

With the benefit of the open tent area, the circus is certainly a good alternative to the theatre or the cinema and Santus Circus has never failed to entertain.

The show really marks traditional circus with a French flavour. Artists from Portugal, Kenya and Mongolia stayed on, in their caravans throughout lock-down, and they’ve been joined by French, Swiss and British performers, plus the Santus family themselves, to present an all-human traditional show

As always, Sacha the clown did a fantastic job of entertaining us between acts and Zaya provided a fantastic act with her contortion, leaving all of the audience’s mouths wide open. Miss Ellie provided one of my favourite acts, with her amazing trapeze and aerial net piece. But the act that really made my jaw drop was the all shooting act, where they shot a target using at least 5 arrows in a domino affect, you’ll have to go see it to see what I mean

It was a great evening, in an environment that felt far away from the weather, despite a few puddles in the field. I would highly recommend going to see this while it’s still in town
