A Green Flag Award means the parks boast the highest possible standards, are well maintained and have excellent facilities. The recognition is awarded by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.

This latest achievement of Green Flags is a reward for the efforts of parks and ground maintenance staff plus the community groups we  work in partnership with, who help maintain the parks to a high standard all year round.

As well as being a particular focus point for residents and visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic, our parks continue to be places for people to go to help boost well-being and mental health and enjoy the outdoors safely.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“We, along with all our residents, are extremely proud of our wonderful parks across the borough.

“The Green Flag award is recognition of all the hard work our staff carry out on a daily basis, along with our volunteers and friends of parks groups to help keep our parks maintained and safe for everyone to visit.

“It is due to their efforts that we are once again celebrating this success and I am delighted their dedication has once again been rewarded.”

Paul Todd, MBE, Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone in Havering for achieving Green Flag Awards.

“Parks are a vital green space for the community, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievements.”
