The Queen’s Theatre has always been a place that I’ve gone to for drinks and I was very lucky to be invited to the opening of their new café
It’s changed soo much since the first time I visited the bar that I remember when the bar was very much based in the centre of the theatre (down the stairs). The café is now based on the right, as you enter the theatre, and this very much makes it easy to get to. But the most recent upgrade was very much to the layout café and this has been updated to give it a modern fresh look, this very much ties into the rest of the foyer.
Megan Withers, Customer Services and Facilities Manager said: “Alongside this, we have introduced an extremely exciting new menu which is filled with an extensive range of bites and dishes. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or gluten free, we cater for all! From the classic cottage pie to a falafel and hummus sandwich, we really do have something for everyone. If it’s not something savoury that takes your fancy and you’re after a sweet treat instead, we have an array of cakes and bakes, a particular favourite amongst our staff is the tasty apple crumble cake.”
We tried a variety of different cakes and hot drinks with the ultimate judge being my 6-year-old daughter, she very much confirmed the cookies and hot chocolate were still fantastic and showed her thankfulness to all the staff before we left. Like everyone at The theatre, the staff behind the café are very friendly and always seem open for a chat.
The whole coffee shop very much felt calm, the area had a lot of people meeting but it was still quite and felt like a nice place to talk to friends. I’ll certainly be taking many more people there in the near future. It also has a WiFi facility, which makes it a perfect place to use for work and studying. There are many more facilities at the theatre, it has toilet facilities and the building does have a small bar on the other side of the building but this tends to only serve alcohol on show nights. I asked and like many businesses they also offer free water bottle refills (I have also suggest they are listed on the Refill App)
It’s a lovely place which I would highly recommend for coffee/tea/hot chocolate and all of the food available, including sandwiches and cakes (please see the photo for further details).
