People in Havering could be eligible for a special grant to make their homes warmer, greener and more fuel-efficient this winter.
The Green Homes Grant is a new government fund aimed at helping households make vital home improvements, helping to lower carbon emissions, keep homes warm, and most importantly, save on rising fuel costs.
The scheme, which is delivered by Warmworks Scotland on behalf of Havering Council, offers a wide range of insulation measures and renewable heating methods to reduce a home’s impact on the environment, including various types of heat pumps.
The Green Homes Grant scheme is open to homeowners, private tenants and people in social rented accommodation, where the home has a low energy rating and combined annual income under £30,000.
Warmworks will arrange a survey in the homes of eligible householders to see which work can be carried out. An accredited and registered sub-contractor team then completes the installation of the agreed heating and energy-efficiency measures. Finally, an independent inspection will check the completed work to ensure it meets energy-efficiency standards.
Where required, Warmworks will also then arrange for a full annual service to be completed 12 months later.
