Havering have changed the rules when it comes to turning onto Minster Way from Wingletyle Lane

There are now 3 rules in this area:

  1. You are no longer allowed to turn left from Wingletye Lane into Minster Way when you are traveling from the direction of the A127.
  2. You are no longer allowed to make a right turn out of Minster Way into Wingletye Lane.
  3. You are no longer allowed to drive across Wingletye Lane from Minster Way into Maywin Drive.

Enforcement cameras are in place and motorist who fail to observe these new restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice.

The reason for this change was described by Councillor Gerry O’Sullivan

The main point being raised is the additional traffic it will cause at the Wingletye Lane (Doggett’s Corner) traffic lights. I do understand the concerns of those residents and agree it will cause some disruption to other road users. That said I also as a councillor must take into consideration the concerns over safety, speeding and the sheer volume of vehicles using Minster Way as a rat run to avoid the traffic lights at Wingletye Lane (Doggett’s Corner).
